Yaya Urassaya Sperbund, the half Thai/Norwegian actress is the hottest breaking star at the moment. She entered the industry in 2008 but it wasn't until 2010 where she gained immense popularity and created a name for herself with her portrayal of the fearless, daring, Jeed in Duang Jai Akkanee 4 Huajai Haeng Koon Kao. Her acting and pairing with co-star Nadech Kugimiya captured the hearts of so many fans across the country where the two are now the most popular "koo kwan" of this generation. Before, Yaya could only speak 30 % of the Thai language because she attended international school since childhood where most of her friends were American. After being discovered by Pa Tue and signing a contract with channel 3, Yaya motivated herself to learn the language until she was proficient. And along with the help of a special tutor, she became fluent.
Until today, she still remains to be the darling and beloved heartthrob of the Thai industry. Her popularity stems from various facts, one being that she is sweet, caring and down to earth to everyone she encounters whether it's her fans, producers, co-stars, directors, fashion designers etc. Everyone who has worked with her can vouch for her on being ethical and professional with her job, making her an easy person to work with.

  • Her name nickname is Yaya because her father couldn't pronounce Urassaya (which means daughter in Thai) so the name Yaya was formed.
  • She used to be an exchange student in Australia for one month in 2004.
  • She was initially suppose to be named Christine but her grandmother disapproved of it.
  • Benz Pornchita Na Songkhla revealed in her interview with Tonight Show for Mon Chantra that when she first saw Yaya on screen in the lakorn "Kularb Rai Narm", she called TV Scene producer Khun Pin and told him "This young girl will surely be popular". As Benz predicted, Yaya did become very popular.
